ScienCentral,
Inc. was co-founded in 1996 by scientist and CEO/President
Eliene Augenbraun to increase the number of quality science
stories being broadcast to the public. We launched an independent
news bureau—Science
& Technology News Network (STN2)—to
report on the medical, environmental, and technological issues
affecting daily life.
By 1999 commercial local news affiliates were broadcasting
our science features across the country. ScienCentral’s
production unit was partnering with organizations such as
the Lucent Technologies Foundation to create engaging, informative
multimedia projects. That same year we co-produced “Transistorized!”—an
award-winning documentary on the invention of the transistor.
Today, our science and technology features can be seen each
week on ABC’s local news stations. We also help corporations
and non-profit organizations communicate science and technology
through videos, educational
products, Websites and
CD-ROMs.
