I'm now 83 yrs old with an identical twin sister. We were raised in a family with a brother five years older, a sister five years younger and a second brother 8 years younger and were totally dependent on each other for company all the way through public school. Our mother dressed us alike and expected us to be the same in every way. Being hard to tell apart through childhood and public school we were called 'Twinnie'. My twin had a mastoid op when she was 5; I had an appendectomy when I was 16 and she had a lot of dental work done by the time she was 18. In high school she took 'home-ec' because of the art courses and I took the commercial courses which irritated our mother who eventually made her leave school and take an office job before graduating. She is more outgoing than I and was more artistic and a great seamstress and I was the knitter, crocheter and tatter! We were both interested in craft work and her home is always beautifully decorated. In my late 30's I lost a lot of my hearing amd am now profoundly deaf; she developed m.s. in her late 30's and we were part of a twin study into identical twins and m.s. Her neurologist at the clinic didn't believe we were identical twins because our appearances had changed somewhat over the years. I have been interested in reading the results of these latest gene/DNA studies. Explains a lot.

I am an identical twin, our DNA matches perfectly. Explain this one. We are identical in every way, outside influences excluded.
