Using gloves is an efficient way of preventing the spread of Bacteria. Alcohol hand rubs are used in many medical facilities to stop the spread of Bacteria, placed into the hands and is then rubbed in to the skin until it has disappeared. The alcohol rub effectively kills any bacteria that may be on the skin.

I really appreciate the article, as well as the article in Proceedings. As undergraduate microbiology students, it gave my lab partner and I a great jumping-off point for our independent project. Even without 16S RNA sequencing, we did see a lot of variability from skin surface to skin surface on the same individual. Also, be sure to note that women have more TYPES of bacteria, not necessarily a greater number.
This is a tremendously exciting area for future research.
