Reports From the River

A new blog just debuted that we thought was worth sharing.

"The Chickahominy Report" will deliver news on current environmental research and policy developments, mostly affecting the country’s Mid-Atlantic region. The name comes from the fact that it’s author, David M. Lawrence, lives and works near the swamplands of Virginia’s Chickahominy River.

Lawrence is a journalist and scientist who says he hopes to fill a niche with his environmental blogging of the Chesapeake regions. Early posts have featured news about Blue Crab population resurgence, threats to oyster reefs, and a mysterious bat disease.

The blog is actually complimentary to one of our own — ScienCentral’s Backyard Climate Blog by Carol Berkower chronicles issues of climate-change and conservation, focused mostly in the Chesapeake Bay/Baltimore area.
